Here I wanted to write something more about how my interest in a film began.
As I have mentioned before I was always into movies, I was studying Film and Audiovisual Arts for 3 years at Jagiellonian University in Krakow. But it was only theory and I wanted to start actually doing something. Reviews, analysis are okay, but I am too active for that.
During studying we had a few workshops, but only e.g. once in a month. You can’t really learn to much about practice in such a short time. But there were a few people in my year who wanted to do something. My friend decided to make a short movie. I was always into acting so I played there. For the first time I saw how looks like working on a film set. And I really liked it!
Then there were movie festivals. My favourite is Off Plus Camera International Festival of Independent Cinema in Krakow. It is a quite famous festival in Poland, because there are many popular guests, e.g. Luc Besson, Tim Roth, Richard Jenkins, etc. I was a volunteer there two years ago. Last year I had a chance to work for festival television as a reporter. I had a fantastic opportunity to talk with actors, directors and people from the film industry about their work and passion. It was really inspiring and it made me think that maybe I could also do something. This is our Festival Chronicle:
The Festival was a great opportunity to meet people who are also interesting in film and they want to create something. With a group of friends we took part in a 48 Hours Film Festival.
It’s a worldwide project where you have to make a movie in a 48 hours.
At the beginning you’re getting a genre, a line and a prop you have to use. It shouldn’t be longer then 7 minutes.
I was in film production, I learned a lot and became more interested in creating. Our production didn’t get the award, but there was one for our actor. I hope I will have a chance to tae part in this project again. You can learn so much in such a short time!
Here is our film:
